Our History
The DeRuosi family’s presence in the hospitality industry stretches back to the final years of Prohibition, beginning with Antonio DeRuosi, an Italian immigrant who established a bar and restaurant in New Jersey as America transitioned into a new era of regulated alcohol sales. When Prohibition ended in 1933, Antonio became one of the state’s earliest licensed operators and was a respected voice in helping establish the Alcoholic Beverage Control system.
Over the generations that followed, the DeRuosi family continued to own and operate restaurants, bars, and pizzerias, gaining extensive insight into hospitality operations and the complexities of maintaining compliant, well-run establishments.
Over time, the DeRuosi family’s combined experience in hospitality, real estate, and regulatory compliance shaped LicenseBrokers into a full-service brokerage trusted by restaurants, bars, hotels, gas stations, c-stores, and developers across the country.
Today, under third-generation leadership, LicenseBrokers serves as the brokerage and advisory arm of the organization, offering clients expert guidance in valuation, negotiation, documentation, escrow, and closing. In partnership with our sister company, AlcoholPermit.com, our organization completes hundreds of transactions each year and continues to be a cornerstone of reliability and experience in the industry.
